I am sure that Thunderbird 2 can run properly on Windows Server 2003, but is not listed here:

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/system-requirements.html

The corresponding Firefox's page:

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/system-requirements.html

Moreover, the order of the platforms is different. Thunderbird goes Windows -> Linux -> Mac but Firefox is Windows -> Mac -> Linux.

Little nit: Windows 2003 should be Windows Server 2003.
