User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9b5pre) Gecko/2008032006 Minefield/3.0b5pre Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9b5pre) Gecko/2008032006 Minefield/3.0b5pre We should use Web Feed (Glyph) for live bookmarks and Web Feed (Shape with Glyph) for Web feeds. To make it more clear: Web Feed (Shape with Glyph) -> Actual technology (RSS/Atom). Web Feed (Glyph) -> Our Web Feed implementation: live bookmarks. Places where they should be used: Web Feed (Glyph): * Bookmarks Menu (has to be changed). * Bookmarks Sidebar (has to be changed). * Bookmarks Toolbar (has to be changed). * Library (has to be changed). * Subscription page "Live Bookmarks" menu item (OK). Web Feed (Shape with Glyph): * Location bar (has to be changed). Note: users might prefer other implementation than ours, so the Web Feed (Glyph) is plain wrong. * Page Info tab (OK). * Podcast, Video Podcast, Web feed (Preferences > Applications) (OK). * Subscription page "main" icon (OK). Reproducible: Always

This is not a comprehensible bug report. Please provide more information: - what does it have to be changed to? - in what systems have you tested it? (f.e, I see shape w/glyph in location bar on windows and osx)

We should use the Web feed (shape with glyph) icon for the actual technology (RSS/Atom); and Web feed (glyph) for our Web feed implementation: live bookmarks. To solve this, I list the icons that have to be changed next. In Ubuntu 7.10 (Linux): Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9b5pre Gecko/2008032006 Minefield/3.0b5pre * Bookmarks menu: has to use Web feed (glyph). * Bookmarks sidebar: has to use Web feed (glyph). * Bookmarks toolbar: has to use Web feed (glyph). * Library: has to use Web feed (glyph). * Location bar: has to use Web feed (shape with glyph). In Windows XP: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b5pre) Gecko/2008031806 Minefield/3.0b5pre * Bookmarks sidebar: has to use Web feed (glyph). * Library: has to use Web feed (glyph). * Subscription page "Live Bookmarks" menu item: has to use Web feed (glyph). Can't test Mac OS X.

Just noted Windows uses the livemark folder icon; so I update: In Windows XP: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b5pre) Gecko/2008031806 Minefield/3.0b5pre * Bookmarks sidebar: has to use livemark folder. * Library: has to use livemark folder. * Subscription page "Live Bookmarks" menu item: has to use livemark folder.

On Linux, the design is to show the glyph only for actions and the glyph-on-shape for objects. Windows and Mac should follow the bundled native browser.
(In reply to comment #4) > On Linux, the design is to show the glyph only for actions and the > glyph-on-shape for objects. Windows and Mac should follow the bundled native > browser. > Even when I understand the planned concept, I think a simpler: technology/implementation division would be better than action/object. Which doesn't make sense, because no RSS/Live Bookmark related icon reassembles an action anyway.
We no longer use just the glyph icon anywhere, but we do have the live bookmarks folder icon. I'll be filing separate follow up bugs to make sure we are using it correctly.
