The installation proceeded normally, and I was asked if I wanted to overwrite the current version of Firefox that I had installed. (2.2) Since the web site said that bookmarks would be preserved, I continued with the install. Unfortunately none of my books survived and I am in the process of rebuilding them as I work. Is there any way to recover the "lost" bookmarks? Computer: MacBook Pro with Leopard, latest update. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.

All your bookmarks are still available in the bookmarks.html file in your profile directory. More information is available here: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Lost+Bookmarks
If possible, could please attach (or privately send me) your bookmarks.html file and places.sqlite file?

How do I mark this bug as a duplicate of bug 405180?
You don't, since "when I let 3.0 import my bookmarks from 2.0, it lost them instead of imported them" is in no way a duplicate of "I used 3.0, then used 2.0, and my bookmarks were gone in 2.0."
Bookmarks were lost when upgraded from 2.0 to 3.0. This is ridiculous that this bug still exists when it is nearly SEVEN MONTHS OLD.
not enough informations to reproduce, we need at least the original bookmarks.html, resolving incomplete

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h". In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows: Tools | Message Filters Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New" Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h Change the action to "Delete Message". Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top. Click OK. Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter. Gerv
