I installed the firefox distributed today 2.0.0.12 and the search engines are gone. The Manage Search Engines window does nothing at all. I can open and close that window, but nothing else happens. I see in the list of bugs no. 319196 which is similar, but I still have bookmarks on this machine. I hesitate to let the 2.0.0.12 install happen on any other machines. I did try uninstall and reinstall.

If you set javascript.options.showInConsole to true using about:config, do you see any error messages in the Error Console? You might also try enabling browser.search.log and attaching the output from the "Messages" tab.
