In FF2.0.0.12, when I do Help->CheckForUpdates, I get the software update dialog box with the heading "Welcome to the Software update".
In the body of the dialog, it says: "There were problems checking for, downloading or installing this update. Firefox could not be updated because:
AUS: Update XML File Malformed (200)"
The only option is to click the "Finish" button. I retried this 3 times, and the 3rd time, the update downloaded and installed fine.
(Note: my home DSL internet connection was working fine throughout, as I could surf the web with that machine, and another machine, at the time just fine.)

John, is this still reproducible? This was likely caused by either the network or the server.
