User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9b4) Gecko/2008030317 Firefox/3.0b4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9b4) Gecko/2008030317 Firefox/3.0b4 Firefox is now reporting the Mac major version (ex. OS X 10.5), which is wonderful. Even better would be to also include the minor version (ex. OS X 10.5.2), which I just noticed Safari 3.1 includes. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.

Did as triage suggested, useragent is still only showing OS major version: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:188.8.131.52) Gecko/20100914 Firefox/3.6.10 For reference, Safari shows: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10_6_4; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Safari/533.18.5
I actively feel we should NOT do this for the obvious security/fingerprinting reasons. We don't expose Windows/Linux patch levels, either. Gerv, do you agree, in which case, can we mark this as wontfix? :-)
Yes; we removed this information on purpose, for the reasons Gijs gives. Gerv
