My system is Mac OS 9.0.4 US English.

My problem is that the Mozilla Mac installer for the M16 *release* fails right 
after it created the "Mozilla Folder" on my hard disk.

That is, I've just clicked 'Install' on the last screen of the installer, and 
during the "Extracting Files" phase, but before any files and installed it gives 
me a dialog which reads simply "Error 304:", beeps, repeats the same dialog, then 
quits.

This happens if I just click through the installer accepting all of the defaults.

Is this 304 or 340 error? - check bug 41376 for 340 error - your description 
matches except for #

The fix didn't make it to the M16 branch.  Try rebooting or rerunning the 
installer a few times.  This is now fixed in M17.
