User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.8.1.13) Gecko/20080311 Firefox/2.0.0.13 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.8.1.13) Gecko/20080311 Firefox/2.0.0.13 Pages with a table that has a background image do not display properly if the background image spans behind multiple rows / columns. It will not display the image behind the table using CSS. However, Internet Explorer shows this by setting the rows and columns to "Background: Transparent", allowing the actual table's background to be displayed. I am working on a website that has not yet been uploaded, if that may somehow effect that. I will update this later with the URL as soon as the page is uploaded. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.In a webpage editor, create a table that has many columns/rows with a picture as a background coded using CSS. 2.Type some text in those columns/rows. 3.Using CSS, set the value of the columns/rows to "Background: Transparent". 4.Open in Firefox and Internet Explorer and compare the two. Actual Results: Firefox fails to reproduce the desired results that Internet Explorer 7 does (for once). Expected Results: The background image should appear behind the text.
Please either provide an example URL or attach a testcase
Give me a couple minutes. I'm uploading my test site to a temporary FTP. I'll submit a URL as soon as the site is up. -Kyle
Alright everyone, I just added a temporary website above. In case it didn't update, here it is: http://www2.boardman.k12.oh.us/Italian_Club/test/BHS%20Website/index.html -Kyle

I can't see a difference between IE and the current Gecko trunk
Version: unspecified → 2.0 Branch
I am using Firefox to output the webpage, and do not know what SeaMonkey and/or Gecko Trunk is. I can tell you that if you look directly below the student resources section in firefox, the background is completely dark maroon (#700000). If you look at the same thing in IE7, there is a picture displayed behind the text directly below the student resources section. If you take a look at the CSS (found at http://www2.boardman.k12.oh.us/Italian_Club/test/BHS%20Website/styles.css ), you will see that the background for the rows below the Student Resources Section is listed at transparent, however firefox does not recognize such an item. It only recognizes items that are HEX colors (like "#700000")and words (such as "RED"). I'll upload a screenshot of what I am seeing in a couple of minutes once I go to school.

This is the what firefox displays. Notice that in the area right below the student resources image is dark maroon (a solid color.)
This is the what IE7 displays. Notice that in the area right below the student resources image is an actual image. This is the effect that I was trying to create using the CSS to make the background rows transparent so that the table background image would show through.
I just uploaded some attachments. Please compare the attachments and get back to me.
This is the CSS file that I am using.
Alright, I just uploaded the CSS code that I am using if you can't get to it.
