User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9b5) Gecko/2008032619 Firefox/3.0b5 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9b5) Gecko/2008032619 Firefox/3.0b5 Mandriva Linux 2008, KDE 3.5.9, Firefox 3.0b5 See attached screenshots. When I click on or tab to then hover over a text box I get a blue border indicating focus. However, I also get other weird blue lines following my text as I type and others popping up seeming randomly, especially if I scroll the box off-screen then back. At first when I noticed this I wrote it off as a weird Minefield issue, but now that I'm using beta 5 I tested on Windows and noticed a much more stable GUI there. My guess is this is a GTK under KDE issue. (changing OS styles had no effect) Reproducible: Always

A quick amendment: This affects most, but not all selected textboxes. The address and search bars for the browser even have this effect when typed into. The only box I can think of off-hand that doesn't get this effect is the search box on the new AMO page.

Including you and the duplicate of this in bug 427201, all 3 are on Mandriva Linux with KDE. This might be more than coincidence. Maybe a Mandriva specific issue? For a more general drawing glitch along these lines, see bug 426998.

i also tested it in virtualbox with kde4.0.3/xfce4.4.2 - those had the same problems

(In reply to comment #6) > i also tested it in virtualbox with kde4.0.3/xfce4.4.2 - those had the same > problems > What distro? Also Mandriva? I would assume that if this affected all Linux distros then it would've been fixed by now, but I could be wrong. (or this could be a duplicate of another bug that I haven't be able to find)

I just installed Kubuntu 7.10 (KDE 3.5.8) in a VirtualBox and then gave Firefox 3.0b5 a test. No problems there. This seems to be specific to Mandriva, or at least a small set of Linux setups.
Summary: weird blue lines in textboxes on Linux (KDE) → [Mandriva Linux] weird blue lines in textboxes; drawing errors

https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=39915 seems to be Ia Ora problem, other themes (at least under gnome) work..

I don't use Ia Ora. My current style is QtCurve with Crystal for window decorations.

Under kde it doesn't matter what theme you are using.

Just installed gtk-qt-engine and it's actually using qt widgets for gtk now. Glitch is gone for me with this work-around. (not quite perfect; might end up just switching to a decent gtk theme) Hopefully they can fix the bug within Ia Ora on GTK that causes this. Check Mandriva's Bugzilla for more info.

This apparently wasn't a browser code issue - as it was fixed by Mandriva.

If you want to get technical, it's INVALID as this is not a bug in Mozilla software but rather a bug in their default GTK theme. I just marked FIXED initially as there's this odd class of tracking bug report that get's marked as such after waiting on someone else to fix an important issue. (i.e. TE bugs consider the act of contacting the external source and getting them to fix it to be a change by Mozilla worthy of FIXED) Frankly, I wish bugs were closed with flags instead of a vague generalized status. ;)
