Details

When I tried "check for updates" from Firefox 3.0b5 and asked the "wizard" to tell me which extensions are incompatible with the new version, it only listed "Dom Inspector". Confident about the rest of the extensions, I upgraded. After the restart with 3.0b5, "Dom Inspector" works obviously fine, and the upgrade wizard tells me only "GreaseMonkey" is not compatible.

You took 3.0b5, put it on the nightly channel, and got a nightly update ? Or started with 3.0b5pre nightly and got offered a 3.0pre nightly ?
Do you have extensions.checkCompatibility set to false in about:config?
