User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b5) Gecko/2008032620 Firefox/3.0b5
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b5) Gecko/2008032620 Firefox/3.0b5

It makes it very hard to use gmail when the text is not completely visible and is superimposed over the other text and background images that exist on the page. It's also very difficult to perform spell check, edit text, or correct typos.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Log into gmail.
2. Open an email you have received.
3. Type more than a couple of paragraphs in the reply text entry box at the bottom.
Actual Results:
The text passed the right edge of the text entry box, and was difficult to see, edit, or control in any way.

Expected Results:
The text should stay IN the box, and be visible at all times.

This works fine for me. Have you tried:

- Firefox's safe-mode to exclude extension/theme problems
- a new profile
- a reinstall in a new empty folder?

This is fairly easy for me to reproduce on Mac. I don't have any extensions installed in my profile. My STR are:

1. Reply to an existing Gmail email message.
2. Type a long string in the reply. Instead of word wrapping, the text moves outside of the box. See my screenshot of the duped bug in Comment 3.

The only other thing I may have done is used page zoom to increase the text size, but other than that the STR are pretty straightforward.

This is what I see when I test this with latest trunk on Windows XP: http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/4790/replyqj1.png
Yes, it is really a bug. I removed all extensions and it still happens on occasion. This is confirmed as a Firefox bug, not as an incompatibility with extensions.
I get this as well. can confirm it is really annoying! I do a quick resize page up and down. (ctrl +, ctrl -) and it sorts it out.
i get this on windows vista - and still have it in FF3RC1
Yes, this bug is STILL in effect in RC1. I think enough people use gmail that this should be a blocker.

Other than this bug though, RC1 is the best browser I have ever used. Good luck tracking down this easily duplicatable, and widely effecting bug.
can't believe FF3 is so close to being released with nobody working on this bug which will affect a lot of people!
This is a HUGE BUG IN FIREFOX! Gmail is one of THE MOST POPULAR web mail interfaces, and this is a HUGE BUG. I can't believe you think it is alright to release with this bug still active.
Gmail even wraps long URLs and bookmarklets here.
still doesn't work in FF3. same problem on 3 of my computers running xp/vista.
Please create a new profile and let know what settings exactly you need to change to reproduce this bug, what text you typed, if the problem also occurs if you paste text etc.

Yo.

Created a new profile and can recreate this bug!

It didn't happen first time.

Then I increased the zoom (ctrl +)
Clicked on reply and the previous message overflowed as described.
I have a work around for this bug, that is simply to type a line and save the
message as a draft and then reopen the reply. Then the word wrap works as it
should.

I tried rolling back by a system restore to before the firefox3 download, but
then firefox wouldnt open at all, which might have lost my bookmarks, so I
undid the restore, and exported my bookmarks.

If I choose, is there a way of rolling back to the previous edition of firefox?
i think my workaround is easier:

"I do a quick resize page up and down. (ctrl +, ctrl -) and it sorts it out."
seems to work in 3.0.1
Google lists this as a "known issue" at:
<http://mail.google.com/support/bin/static.py?page=known_issues.cs>
It's listed under the Composing and Reading Mail category of known issues. So, is this a Google problem or a Firefox problem?
i reckon it was a firefox problem with zoom. because it worked without zoom. anyway no matter it's fixed now. good work team!
This bug is not totally fixed - but it's a lot harder to reproduce.
Adam, are you still experiencing this problem? I am not able to reproduce the problem with the latest version of 3.0.x nor the latest version of 3.5.x nor with 3.6, using plain and rich formatting mode, and after playing with different browser window sizes.

If you are still experiencing the problem, please add the "qawanted" keyword in the "Keywords" field and see if you can provide any further details which could help us reproduce the problem.
