STR:
1. Load www.google.com
2. Cmd-S
-- Note we get a full save dialogue, including the "Hide extension" box and the file type pop-up. Note also that only the filename is selected (if the "hide extension" box is unchecked).
3. Ctrl-click on any link and choose "Download link target…"
-- Note this one is missing the checkbox and the pop-up, and note the entire filename is (incorrectly) selected.
4. Ctrl-click on the Google logo image and open it in a new tab
5. Cmd-S
-- Note this one is also missing the checkbox (and pop-up, though that's irrelevant) and the entire filename is (incorrectly) selected.
6. Visit http://www.ardisson.org/afkar/2007/05/28/ad-memoriam-aeternam/
7. Ctrl-click on any image and choose "Save Image…"
--Note we again are missing the checkbox (and pop-up, though that's again irrelevant) and the entire filename is (incorrectly) selected.
8. Ctrl-click on any image and choose "Download link target…"
--Note we yet again are missing the checkbox (and pop-up, though that's still irrelevant) and the entire filename is (incorrectly) selected.
It seems to me that in all cases we should be selecting only the filename, not the extension (if present), and in all cases we should be showing the "Hide extension" checkbox.
It's not clear to me at all whether any of this is in Core code (my guess based on other bugs is "mostly not"), so filing here.
