Installing apache and the entire talos pageset is too much for the devices we are about. We should setup a webserver that is accessible by the devices (and not the rest of the word) which allows us run the full talos testcases.
What mobile devices are we talking about?

What are they running?

If the devices only have edge/3g we obviously can't set up an enclosed network for them.
I thought we had a small, Python web server in the tree somewhere. I may just be thinking of
they're nokia N8*0s, afaik, running a flavor of linux with wifi. If we can't run a webserver locally on the devices, that's going to compromise the results somewhat as it introduce network latency and a degree of randomness.

what is the deviation? < 1%?

we are not talking about a huge demand on the server. Plus the server should be on the same subnet has the n800's wifi interface.

Not sure exactly.

hopefully. We shouldn't be putting too much load on it. I just bring it up as a possible source of pain, especially if we're going to be closing the tree for variances of +/- 1-2%

i think we should set it up and and start getting some numbers asap. If this discussed variance because a problem we can by bigger/better devices (maybe build to order).
I'm pushing this over to server ops as they'll be the ones who'll be able to set up the sort of server/wireless/etc test environment that you'll need.

I don't have any hardware for this at any location where "server should
be on the same subnet has the n800's wifi interface".

Are you looking at replicating one of Alice's Talos boxes in Mountain View?

This should just be a mini in MV - what specs on the hardware - Alice?

Phong - there are several Mini's (I think) on the floor. Can you put an Talos image on it and drop it off in Mountain View?

The requirements here are not for a talos mini box - it's for some sort of local, private wireless network that can serve the talos web page test set to a group of nokia mobile devices.

So - don't steal one of my minis quite yet.

There are some Minis still in the box on the floor, not in the "Alice" rack.

Alice, I would NEVER take on of your boxes!
You are just trying to avoid racking the last of my minis. :)

And yes, they all _all my minis.

There are still 3 MINIS not in use sitting on the rolling chest. Is the talos 10.4.8 image fine for this?
we also discovered qm-rhel03 sitting idle yesterday as well. I'm willing to offer this up as a sacrificial mobile mini for webserving and buildbot mastering.

qm-rhel03 has been imaged with a 10.4.8 image. i will bring it back to MV and drop it off.

Box is back at Landings and I dropped it off with Sean. Sean - this box is the one in the URL.
