picking up from bug 407938, changing url for default RSS feed/live bookmark:

Daum let me know their RSS feed change in April 7th.
to *http://blog.daum.net/_blog/rss/ChannelInsertDirect.do?channelUrl=%s*

we think this has to land in 3.0.x because of impact to Firefox 2 versions.

channy and i had a conversation in IRC to clear up some misunderstanding here, this is what we discussed:

Daum is requesting to change their url for their RSS reader service (not an RSS feed as in description, sorry, my misunderstanding)

the reason for their request is to accommodate a new service integration they are requiring of their users. this is my understanding of that service, their rss reader service now requires the user to also register for a blog account and then they get a combined service of reader and blog. 

i do not think this is a good user experience to require the user to do this, to use a service they are already subscribed to. it should be up to the user.

Basically I agree Mic's comment although I'm working in Daum. It's not good to user a tie-in-sale of combination both blog service and rss reader. 

But, there are something to be considered.

Daum represents general users not familiar with RSS feeds. In fact, most of heavy users have used hanrss and google. I guess the number of maximum users is about 40,000 account in hanrss. But, the number of Daum blog is over 3 million users. 

So if you want to cover general users, it must be changed. But, if you think this service experience is not good in view of future, you can erase this service in Firefox 2/3 because there are good alternatives (hanrss, google, bloglines.)

By above discussion, I'll patch to omit Daum blog-rss reader if it is not offered independently after final discussion within Daum.
