Compose new message, in composition body 2. click Insert 3. click Characters and Symbols 4. click Characters down arrow (open selection window) 5. Pull-down window is blank. ** symbols are there, if scrolling and selecting, but pull-down display is blank. Actual Results: Symbols and characters are available in table, but are not displayed in pull-down Expected Results: Display of character/symbol table to enable selection of desired symbol for insertion into text body

It works for me using Thunderbird 2.0.0.12 on Windows. What Category is selected? What Letter is selected? Can you confirm that this always happens, even in safe mode?

This occurs on all category's, each pull-down table is blank. I have downloaded and installed ver 2.0.0.12 again, and result is the same. Perhaps I should fall back to previous version. I am using Windows XP-Pro,
Does it happen in safe mode? Does the Error Console show any error messages?
Does it happen in safe mode? > No, in Safe Mode, the insert character pull-down table is correctly displayed. Does the Error Console show any error messages? > No, the Error Console has no messages in Safe Mode > I rebooted my PC again, started TB in normal mode, created a new mail message, attempted insertion of various characters in message body, using all different types of character/symbol insert. Clicking on down arrow to open "character" table for selection of various symbols, the table display is blank. > no Error Console is available when/during this action, in normal mode.
If it is OK in safe mode, that strongly suggests that a broken add-on is causing the problem. You can identify the add-on by disabling them one by one until you find the culprit. Report the problem to the author of the add-on.
I had the following add-ons installed: Birthday Reminder 1.0.4.2 Talkback 2.0.0.9 > I removed each one individually, with no effect to the problem. > Each was removed individually, TB restarted, problem remains. No change, and my TB is now running without add-ons.
In Thunderbird's profile, try deleting (or renaming) the file localstore.rdf to reset the user interface.
