Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10_5_2; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.13 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1 Safari/525.13 Build Identifier: 2008033121 When using lightning configure via XML transfer to google apps calendar, the send attendees invitations via email is gray, thus we are not able to send invitations to other users. If we go into google apps via the web we are able to invite other users. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create Event (new of existing) (eg. new event from file menu) 2. click invite attendees - type in email address say ok 3. note name on dialog to the left of the work Attendees 4. Note: grayed out button underneath "send attendees invitation via email. 5. Changed all options to see if it becomes not gray - no result 6. click save and close 7. re open event 8. no sign of attendees (didn't save) Actual Results: nothing Expected Results: Would like attendees to receive email with .ics attachment It might have something to do with how we are setting up google apps, so it might be an information thing for me to know. But I have spent a number of hours on it to no avail. Happy to test anything to make this work.

Do you use the Provider for Google Calendar extension or some other tool to sync with Google Calendar? Sending invitations is disabled by the Provider for Google Calendar extension on purpose as far as I know.

I am using Provider for Google Calendar 0.4 - I found the calendar.google.enableAttendees and calendar.google.sendEventNotifications turned to false. So turned them on, once that was done got very weird results. Sometimes, if I opened and closed the event closing with a save, I got a duplicate name restained in the name field, so opening and closing again and again made it appear more and more times. Always an email didn't go to the recipient, but sometimes the email name stayed in the event. I just installed Sunbird and found that the message doesn't appear in below the event dialog at all. So then if we send the message to join the event from the google calendar on the web - lightning or TB receives the email request and lightning adds it to the calendar. So I am thinking that it is a sending problem. I am using XML to connect to the google apps if that makes any difference.

The option is indeed disabled for a reason. If the option was on, the dialog would proceed with sending invitations via itip/imip via your mail server. This isn't the way invitations work with Google Calendar though. I'd say the checkbox should rather be hidden. Regarding Attendees, please note there are some major issues on attendees. Enabling notifications might send more notifications than you want to (see bug 400808), especially if you plan on accepting invitations (which has its own problems, see bug 384308 and bug 407961). I'm marking this as a duplicate of bug 384308 since thats most likely the "problem" that will disable the checkbox. If you experience issues with attendees, please file a separate bug in Provider:GData. Don't forget to look for existing bugs first.
