Copy/Paste highlights the quote tags when I'd prefer that it didn't.

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en; rv:1.8.1.12) Gecko/20080206 Camino/1.5.5 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en; rv:1.8.1.12) Gecko/20080206 Camino/1.5.5 I'll copy some text from a forum post and then press the Reply tab which brings me to the forum's reply box. After I click the quote function, a set of quote tags will appear in the reply box like this:[Quote] [/Quote]. When I attempt to paste the copied text in between the two quote tags, part of the quote tags get highlighted as shown in the link I provided above. This results in having part of the quote tags being deleted while inserting the text in between the quote tags. I've even tried spreading the quote tags further apart; no difference. Only the open space in between the quote tags (before pasting) are supposed to be highlighted; while leaving the quote tags fully intact after pasting the text. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Copy text and click on reply tab. 2. Click on quote function icon in reply box. 3. Insert text in between quote tags by pasting. Actual Results: This results in a partial deletion of the quote tags after pasting the copied text in between the quote tags. Expected Results: What should actually happen is having only the space in between the quote tags being highlighted after a right click; not the space and an additional part of the quote tags; that way the text can be inserted in between the quote tags without partially deleting the quote tags. This of course doesn't happen in the Safari browser.

Specifically what forum software is this? Can you give us a link to try out? Does the same thing happen in Firefox? If I'm understanding the description properly, you're not actually doing anything to make this highlight appear, right? The forum software appears to be creating it automatically and selecting too much? cl

It's not the forum, it's my spelling selection workaround. For now you'll need to click where you want to insert, then use Edit > Paste (or Command-V) to paste, rather than using the context menu. Alternately, you can manually select the space, then use the context menu, since the bug won't happen if you already have a selection (in fact, you'd need to do this anyway if you wanted the space to go away, since the correct behavior is actually not to trigger *any* selection, rather than to select the space as you indicated in your Expected Results).

All I'm doing is holding down the ctrl key while I center the cursor in between the quote tags and click the click bar to paste the text. I can't provide you with a link because you have to be a member of one of those forums to use the reply box. This bug is not present with Firefox; in fact, Firefox doesn't even highlight the quote tags.
