Per discussion at <http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.dev.mozilla-org/browse_frm/thread/7c43b202cf4e5b8a>. This is a newsgroup/mailing list for users/testers of Firefox prerelease builds, similar to the MozillaZine Firefox builds forum. <http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=23> Content would include: - peer support for Firefox prerelease builds (nightlies, alphas, betas) - bug triage for Firefox prerelease builds
Are the forums not doing the job well enough? Or do you think this discussion should move to a mozilla.org-controlled arena? If so, why? What do the MozillaZine crew think? Gerv
This has nothing do with the web forum. Folks in mozilla.support.firefox have been complaining about the amount of prerelease support traffic. And prerelease testers have never really had a home on news.mozilla.org.
Chris: what I meant was that, because you say it's similar to the function of the MozillaZine Firefox builds forum, I want to make sure we aren't stepping on any toes. Is that not a suitable venue for such support? Who runs that forum, and would they be unhappy if we set up a newsgroup/mailing list? Gerv
I haven't spoken to anyone at MozillaZine. I don't know if MZ is a suitable venue or not. The need for this newsgroup comes from people already posting such content to the Mozilla newsgroups.
After consultation with the admins, it seems that the MozillaZine build forums are doing a good job of collecting pre-release feedback. So I suggest you direct people there. Gerv
