User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.8.1.14) Gecko/20080404 Firefox/2.0.0.14
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.8.1.14) Gecko/20080404 Firefox/2.0.0.14
when i attempt to do a search of PubMed, nothing happens.
this only started after the last security update was installed this week.
this does not happen in Internet Explorer and it never happened before the last update
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.go to the URL above
2.type a term in the search box (i used AOAH since this always worked before)
3.Press the 'Go' button
nothing happens
Actual Results:
see above. the search never starts
Expected Results:
should return a list of publications containing the term AOAH
this appears to be a compatibility issue between the PubMed server and Firefox which only began after the last security update was installed

Works for me, Firefox 2.0.0.14 on Linux.
Alan, does the problem occur also in Firefox Safe Mode?
(it temporarily disables add-ons and themes, this test will help us narrow
down the cause of the problem) -- See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_Mode
Version: unspecified → 2.0 Branch

When I type in "aspirin" I get 20 out of 41479 results. I believe this could be a duplicate.

Mats:
I'm not familiar with Firfox Safe Mode; i couldn't find an entry for it in the online help nor did a search produce anything. How do you run FireFox in Safe Mode?

Alan, look for a "Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode)" menu item in Window Start Menu
(under "All Programs"->"Mozilla Firefox"). If you can't find it, you
can start firefox.exe from a command line with a -safe-mode flag.
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_Mode#Windows for instructions.
I've just started to have this issue a few days ago. It was happening intermitantly, and now Firefox 3.0.3 never responds to search requests on the PubMed site. I can navigate links to other pages on the site, I just can't rquery searches. I'm on XP SP3, Norton AV 2006 and Personal Firewall. Using safemode does not resolve the problem. Disabling all plugins also doesn't do anything. Turning off the firewall doesn't help. Other co-workers using Firefox 3.0.3 are not having this problem, and I don't have this problem with Internet Explorer 7 or 8 or OPera 9.x.

This bug was reported on Firefox 2.x or older, which is no longer supported and will not be receiving any more updates. I strongly suggest that you update to Firefox 3.6.3 or later, update your plugins (flash, adobe, etc.), and retest in a new profile. If you still see the issue with the updated Firefox, please post here. Otherwise, please close as RESOLVED > WORKSFORME
