Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b5) Gecko/2008032620 Firefox/3.0b5
Build Identifier: thunderbird 2.0.0.12 (20080213)

If i try to attach a file that has a unicode filename (i.e. japanese filename "国際結婚.doc"), i receive the following error when i hit send
"sending of message failed.
Unable to open the temporary file d:\documents and settings\<username>\desktop\____.doc. Check your temporary directory setting."

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.open new compose window
2.drag and drop file into upper half of window
3.hit send
Actual Results:
error

Expected Results:
e-mail to be sent with attachment

this bug may be related to this mozilla bug
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=359148

also when i add the file to the compose window, where it'd normally display a little word icon for the file, there is no icon appearing.

i also tried adding the same file from a different location "c:\" just ot see if it was an issue with the file being on the desktop and it produced the same error.

error persisted also when i change the message character formatting ot japanese.

workaround is to change the filename to roman letters
