When I empty all my mail folders in Thunderbird they show as empty in the program but the actual files in the local folders directory still contain the old messages. They keep getting larger and larger. I had to delete these files and re-create them to actually empty them out. The Inbox file and the Sent file were actually over three gigs each. Closing the software or rebooting did not have any effect on this.

Actual Results:  
Happens on it's own all the time. The actual files are growing and growing without actually removing the deleted messages.

Expected Results:  
Emptied the files when mail messages were deleted.
