User-Agent: Opera/9.50 (Windows NT 6.0; U; Edition Campaign 05; en) Build Identifier: Eudora 8.0.0.b3 Eudora.exe fluctuates using 45-55% CPU usage constantly. The system is running Windows Vista x64 Ultimate. AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4800+ w/ 4 GB of ram. I have Eudora set to check mail every 5 minutes, but the CPU usage is constant. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
The CPU usage dropped to normal levels once I deleted the junk mail (there were only 90 messages there). It appears to be linked to the Junk mail. I have not messed with any of the junk filters, so their are currently at default settings.
No, I don't think so. I have this problem as well (Vista Home Premium), but I don't even use a Junk folder. Marked fan speed reduction when one turns off Eudora.
I'm thinking that this is a not a Eudora-specific bug, but one for the Thunderbird code base in general. A couple of things to try: 1. Install Eudora 8 beta 4 to see if it still happens: <https://wiki.mozilla.org/Eudora_Releases> 2. If it does, then see if it also happens in Shredder a3 (Thunderbird alpha that Eudora 8 beta 4 is based on): <http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/3.0a3/>
I don't see this problem under XP. I'm curious if this is a Vista thing. Any other Vista users seeing this? Any XP users seeing this? Thanks, Matt
Please take a look at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=431573 and see if any of the comments there lead to a solution. Thanks, Matt
Also, I'd be interested in knowing it this problem is present in Thunderbird 3.0 Alpha 3 ('Shredder'). Please see http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/early_releases/downloads.php Please let us know. Thanks, Matt
Seems to be resolved in beta 5. 0% when idle.
OK, then I am going to mark it fixed. Please re-open if you see it again.
