User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8.1.14) Gecko/20080404 Firefox/2.0.0.14 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8.1.14) Gecko/20080404 Firefox/2.0.0.14 Firefox 2.0.0.14 on Windows 2000. When i click on link to be taken to that URL (http://www.stonemind.net/blog/2007/04/19/illustrating-recursive-methods-by-flattening-directory-hierarchies-in-java/) Firefox starts loading the page, and then completely hangs. CPU usage goes to 100% and the firefox process must be killed because it's completely unresponsive. Same page works fine in IE 6 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to URL specified 2. 3. Actual Results: Hangs Expected Results: Should load the page fully
This works for me with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; fr; rv:1.9pre) Gecko/2008042906 Minefield/3.0pre ID:2008042906 Do you still get this with a nightly build and a new profile ? http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/ For support please visit support.mozilla.com For live support please visit http://support.mozilla.com/fr/kb/Live+Chat
It also works for me with Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.13) Gecko/20080325 Ubuntu/7.10 (gutsy) Firefox/2.0.0.13
Closing WFM for now. If we get more information please get back with it. Reporter if you still get this with a new profile please let us know.

You are right, it works when you start a fresh Firefox, with not many tabs open. Doesn't hang with 34 tabs open. However, it still hangs, when i have 54 tabs open.

I've tried to open the page with 54+ tabs but without error...
I dont think it's # of tabs; i think it's a memory issue.
Of course. Just tried on IE. The same's happened.
IMO you are just reaching your system limit. Specially if it does the same on IE and nobody else get it. If you don't get it with one page open it does not look page related. You will probably get a hang with a lot of other pages with 54 tabs open...

To Gabriel: If it was 1990, you comment would be valid. What's wrong with 54 tabs? Every PC nowadays has over 1GB memory. This ties in with the fact that FF is an outrageous memory pig. But the least FF could do in this case is pop up a message "Out of memory" and refuse to load the page, instead of simply freezing...
With the latest development version of Firefox I don't get this problem I can open more then a 100 of tabs of this page without any impact. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; fr; rv:1.9pre) Gecko/2008050506 Minefield/3.0pre ID:2008050506 I would suggest you test this with Firefox 3 beta 5. Download it here http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html . Tell us if it works !
