Can you describe the problem more clearly? How does it differ? What is it doing/not doing? (With the "autosync_offline_stores", the non-Inbox folders do get downloaded for me.)

thats correct ;-) BUT: i wanna ONLY OFFline marked folders get downloaded! in fact this are 2 essential folders: 1. Inbox & 2. Sent !-) and: especially if you are a Gmail-User you'll run into a huge problem if Thunderbird does download ALL Folders/Labels ,-) thats really NOT an option ,-(

mail.imap.check_all_imap_folders also should be enabled. mail.imap.use_status_for_biff should be disabled with not broken IMAP server which improve your experience.

thats a good input ,-) but: whats about the per folder based right-click menu-item: -> 'Check this folder for New Messages' ?-( and: whats about the 'other' per folder based MAiN-feature: -> 'Mark this Folder for OFFline-Reading' ?-( are this 2 essential features BROKEN ???

"Mark this folder for offline-reading" was working for me since 2.0.0.4 but currently I don't use it anymore. Because I sync everything into offline.

(In reply to comment #4) > thats correct ;-) BUT: i wanna ONLY OFFline marked folders get downloaded! I understand now. As noted in #302386, the autosync setting applies to any folder selected, and ignores the 'use offline' flag. > and: especially if you are a Gmail-User you'll run into a huge problem if > Thunderbird does download ALL Folders/Labels ,-) > thats really NOT an option ,-( Any folder you don't select will not be downloaded, but I agree that that can be a problem. You can unsubscribe any folders you don't ever want to select.

(In reply to comment #5) > mail.imap.check_all_imap_folders also should be enabled. I prefer the per-folder setting. It reduces the overhead, because only a few of my folders are targets for server-side filters. > mail.imap.use_status_for_biff should be disabled with not broken IMAP server > which improve your experience. The effect of this setting is to make Thunderbird SELECT each folder when checking for new messages. This makes the autosync setting work without manual selection, but is more overhead.

The first works as expected. The second works with the manual synchronise. Would it be more accurate to change the description of this bug to "IMAP autosync offline should respect the 'offline folder' settting"?

NO! - AND: 'Inbox' is ALWAYS sync'ed as defined & expected... independent of any OFFline-Switch/-Procedure !-) > > AND definitely NOT as suggested in the right-click menu !-( > I said this one was working as designed, not that it worked as expected. > Technically, it is not broken, because it does work. > (In reply to comment #16) > > Created an attachment (id=318830) [details] [details] > > One more essential Feature BROKEN ??? > > > I don't understand this comment. What are you saying is broken? as you can see in my next 2 attached Screenshots 'Sync' under any Condition seems to be NOT perfect ;-( -> 'All Messages' are NOT complete! 1. MAiN-Folders are checked for 'Check this folder for New Messages'! -> Inbox, All Messages & Sent and some of the other Labels/Folders... -> except SPAM, Trash 2. Two Folders (Inbox & Sent) are checked for 'Mark this Folder for OFFline-Reading' at Minimum i expect the following (-: - Headers of 1 & 2 MUST be locally available after Sync! - Bodies of 2 MUST be locally available after Sync! based on Design/Definition i expect the SAME without any MANUALLY Sync-Procedure! (as it does PERFECT in 'Windows Mail', 'Outlook Express', Office 200x!)

All the headers will be downloaded when the folders are checked for new mail. The second expectation is, as I understand it, the essence of your bug report. Only message bodies in the Inbox are automatically downloaded for offline use, unless you set autosync. With autosync, message bodies in *all* selected folders are downloaded, whether they are selected for offline use or not.

This is an IMAP problem. Also, could you try toning down the usage of upper case letters and smilies? It makes following the thread of communication quickly difficult.

Can't say I understand the point of this report. If someone can restate it in step by step terms (not long sentences) that would be great. Account settings currently allow offline autosync to be specified at the folder level.
