Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.type a subdomain address like bugzilla.mozilla 2.press ctrl+enter shift+enter or ctrl+shift+enter whichever applicable for url completion for .com, .net,.org respectively Actual Results: browser will redirect to http://www.bugzilla.mozilla.org which is not expected! Expected Results: browser should redirect to http://bugzilla.mozilla.org which is not expected! don't prepend www. when a '.' is already there in the typed skeleton URL according to the context
This bug hasn't been fixed in Firefox 3 either. I ask for help.
This is a minor bug but needs attention by someone who understands the code I bet such a person wouldn't even take 5 mins to fix it!
There is no way to know if Firefox should or should not add www. There are such domains that fit the pattern http://www.foo.bar.com If you want to disable this use about:config and set browser.fixup.alternate.prefix to an empty string.
