The top part of owners.html has some text before the auto-generated list of module owners. This needs to be revised a bit to mention the other , non-code modules, and to update the "send questions to" description. (revised versions attached, in pdf. still looking for an open way to compare two documents before checking into cvs.)

You need to edit http://mxr.mozilla.org/mozilla/source/webtools/despot/owners.templ if you want to make changes to owners.html. The entire file is auto-generated.

Thanks Reed. Sam kindly offered to do this for me. I'm planning to post this in governance before too long, then ask Sam to check in when ready. Thanks for the warning though, otherwise i would have tried doctor and been frustrated. mitchell

I do, and since this affects Despot, I'll be glad to review any patch, too. :)

Oops! Wrong bug. Please disregard that attachment, as there are no notes from Frank on this issue.
Reed: here's the revised language for the top of owners.html . There are two places that should be a link; there are brackets to show this followed by the url. let me know if you'd like a different format. thanks for the offer to check this in. as far as i'm concerned it's ready. ++ Module Owners This page lists Module Owners and their Peers for Mozilla code modules. A code Module is a collection of source files that form a coherent bundle. An Owner is the person in charge of a Module. A Peer is a person whom the Owner has designated to help maintain the Module. If a Module has an Owner, the Owner or a Peer should in general review all code changes that go into that module. A list of [Module Owners for activities other than code management] is maintained separately. [text inside brackets is a link to http://wiki.mozilla.org/Module_Owners_Activities_Modules.] The database from which this document is generated sometimes gets out of date. In order to identify the people to talk to about a particular source tree directory, it may be better to consult Bonsai, to see who is regularly checking in changes. Questions about module ownership should be directed to the owner or peers of the Module Ownership module. [text in brackets should be a link to http://wiki.mozilla.org/Module_Owners_Activities_Modules#Governance_Module.] Don't know who owns the file you're hacking? Enter its path and name to jump to the module it belongs to (FE = Front End, BE = Back End, XP = Cross Platform)
(In reply to comment #10) > Questions about module ownership should be directed to the owner or peers of > the Module Ownership module. [text in brackets should be a link to > http://wiki.mozilla.org/Module_Owners_Activities_Modules#Governance_Module.] What text should be used as the link here? You didn't include any [text in brackets]. Guessing "Module Ownership module", but I want to confirm.
yes, you are exactly right. sorry about that. "module Ownerhship module" should be a link.
Attached patch patch - v1Splinter Review
Includes all mitchell's changes along with some trivial whitespace / grammar changes I made to some of the other existing text. I'll commit this shortly.
