search messages
-forces search on single account
-no folder/subfolder selection
-allows global [v]search subfolders
new saved search
-allows cross account
-allows folder/subfolder selection
-no global [v]search subfolders

those panes should be more alike or identical in terms of these options

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.open search messages
2.options..
3.open new saved search
4.options..
Actual Results:
different options/limitations

Expected Results:
more of the same options in both if not identical

This is a matter of UI that I find confusing. User may think that they are alike and having limitations, cause if using one way to search is very easy to assume the other is the same.
I do consider those 2 panes should be more alike at least in options like "select folders" and "search subfolders"

I also can assume the option "under what acc to save the new saved search" is there because of / may relate to bug 321455. Also related? to bug 378833

perhaps potential for saving some code if the two become the same
I think this will likely be taken care of when the new search lands, bug 474701, where we are going to add an "Save this Search" button to the results tab. My assumption is that the new search will obsolete these dialogs eventually, so I'm going to be putting my efforts toward improving the search results tab instead of these dialogs. Not sure that I'd WONTFIX this but I'm not planning on working on it.
Severity: normal → S3
