hi,
I unchecked the "when I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately" option which in the "options->tabs" window, but it doesn't work,it will switch to it immediately. no matter check or uncheck on it,the new tab will always be switched on. I am using version 2.0.0.14 on Windows 2003 server.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.open FF
2.unchecked the "when I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately" option which in the "options->tabs" window
3.type website url
4.select and click a link

Actual Results:
it will switch to new tab immediately

Expected Results:
it won't switch to new tab until I click the new opened tab.
Since I have unchecked the "when I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately" option.

This works fine for me. It opens the new tab in the background. Maybe caused by an add-on? Did you try to check and uncheck it again?

Didn't have a 2.0.0.14 around, but on latest 2.0.0.15pre, freshly unzipped, same OS as reporter, new profile, middle click to open new tab, WFM. I flipped the option back and forth several times, no problem.

FWIW.
hi,

When I open a link through right click menu "Open Link in New Tab",this feature is fine.but when I just open link by left click, this feature isn't work as I expect.

so maybe there are some understanding gap of that feature.Anyway the FF is a good product.
I am having the same problem with Firefox in OSX, right after upgrading to the new version (2.0.0.17). I previously had it set not to switch to new tabs on open, but after installing new version, it began to switch to new tabs on open (using the open apple + t command). I went to preferences > tabs but the box was unchecked. I checked it and tried opening a new tab, and it switched to the new tab. Then I went back to preferences > tabs and unchecked the box and tried it again. FF continues to switch to new tabs when I use the open apple + t command. If I rc and select open link in new tab, it does not switch.
