2. click Betfair Toolbar

actual result:
Add-on not found!

and no other content.

the page has a p which is styled like an h1. this is inappropriate.

it also has a meta refresh which may not work in some browsers and no hint to users of such browsers that it's supposed to redirect.

the fact that it runs away is confusing. because then i think i've lost my tab.
This is a (very old) cake built-in and I agree it's not very friendly. Particularly because I think we run across it in more places than just an add-on id not found (although no examples come to mind).

I agree we should replace this with something more useful. I have done that in the past during the course of, for example, redoing the user profile editing.

The reason why it's ugly is that this error should never[TM] occur unless the user provoked it but in the case you are describing here, they just followed a regular link.

I'd actually suggest you replace the built-in with a "please file a bug" page similar to the one Bugzilla generates when it suffers an error. that way people will tell you when things that should never[tm] happen do happen to happen :).

Zamboni has much more helpful error pages/messages. If anything's wrong with those, people should (and will) file more specific bugs later.
