i never had a problem accessing this file but since i down loaded firefox it willnot let me in. it askes for a user name and password. no matter what i enter it rejects me and tells me i dont have authority to use this file.

with ie i can access the file but it doesn't so the results of the code. the examples that are used by ibm show the exercise done in firefox.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.type in browser http://localhost
2.
3.
Actual Results:
your pop up to enter my user name and password

Expected Results:
it tells me i don't have the authority ON MY OWN COMPUTER

LET ME ACCESS MY COMPUTER
localhost is whatever your computer is serving on port 80 which may be a secure server requiring a user name and password (or you may have been hacked). It has nothing to do with Firefox. I doubt any other browser can access it either.
i know for fact that i have NOT been hacked. i have the same user name and password for logging on and for my admin account. fire fox still says i am not authorized. so now what do i do. i ONLY HAVE THIS PROBLEM IN FIREFOX. so how can you say its not you.
how about http://127.0.0.1, does that work?

(Generally you have to set up your computer to run a local server, i.e. through add/remove windows components)
