Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008051206 Firefox/3.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008051206 Firefox/3.0

When deleting a large amount of bookmarks in Firefox (150+), the browser froze and did not respond. I left for it around 3 minutes, and only then was it finished. I then tried importing around the same number of bookmarks from Opera, and the same problem occured.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1a.Import lots of bookmarks from another browser

1b.Delete lots of bookmarks from Firefox

Actual Results:
The browser stopped responsing, and displayed the 'End Task' window. The browser then started responding a few minutes after when the operation completed.

Expected Results:
Very quick, if not instant removal/import of the selected bookmarks.

Using the default RC1 skin, and only two popular extensions (Adblock and NoScript).

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".

In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.

Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
