The Flix Publisher and Move Media Player plugIns are packaged as extensions. After installation of the plugIns, the add ons window does not show the "Restart Firefox" button.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Visit URL in report
2. install plugIn

Actual Results:
Restart firefox button is not shown in the add ons window after download and installation complete.

Expected Results:
Restart firefox button should be shown in the add ons window.

This behavior can also be reproduced using http://www.movenetworks.com.
Where can I test this, the URL you give complains about me using an unsupported browser.
The plugIns (that I know of) packaged in this way are windows only. The unsupported browser message is probably being thrown up because you're using Firefox on Linux or Mac OS.

I'm not aware of a plugIn packaged as an extension that targets Mac OS or Linux.

Apologies for neglecting to mention that this requires use of the browser on Windows platforms in the reproduction steps.

At any rate, the URL in the report and movenetworks.com should demonstrate the problem if visited using FF3 RC1 on windows.
The plugin is using a deprecated add-on type. It should be packaged as an extension to indicate a restart is required as per bug 401093

Not sure why you guys removed TYPE_PLUGIN in the first place...

At any rate, with type set to 2 within the install manifest, the browser shows the restart button, BUT the plugIn now shows up as an extension. Is this desired behavior?
Yes
