All of the events polvi added this afternoon to stage have invalid URLs pointing to /events/view/for%20bar%20baz - is this an interesting quirk of Validate::url or are things not being validated before Event::save()?
Could be related to polvi being returned to the form in bug 434814 comment 7.

no validate rule existed in Event model.  
added validation rule, added urldecode() to /views/events/view.ctp
