Not sure at what point that happened because I discovered it only after closing the customize task toolbar window. And yes, I was careful not to drag anything off the mail toolbar by mistake. (In any case, that would explain one or two going missing, and not all of them at once.) "Restore Default" did not return the mail toolbar icons afterward. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Toolbar icons seem to need some real work in 0.9pre...
Summary: editing task toolbar also cleared all Thunderbird icons from mail → editing task toolbar also cleared all TB icons from mail toolbar
Does this happen with a 3rd party theme or with the default theme? If the former, then please try again with the default theme and report back.
I was using a 3rd party theme for TB 2.0.0.14, Nautipolis 1.7.17. I have since switched to the default theme, but not only are the icons missing from the mail toolbar, but they are still not all available from customize dialog window (e.g., the search bar, reply, reply all, forward, and a few others). I uninstalled TB and reinstalled, but no change re missing icons and empty toolbar. Whatever happened must have messed with my user profile. Until I get the original icons back, I can't do an independent test with the default theme. If that's what you're asking me to try, my apologies for an incomplete answer.
Yikes, just discovered the problem after more playing around. It was the theme and not TB/Lightning, as far as I can tell. Thanks, and sorry for my second false alarm today. This teaches me for using a theme with a nightly. Lesson learned.
