I have several issues that are closely all related, so I thought I'd just file one bug. If you'd like me to split any of them out separately, I'd be glad to (or you're welcome to do it yourself if you want).
1. The "Search Messages" dialog doesn't allow searching IMAP folders based on Attachment Status.
2. When an IMAP folder is selected, the "Search Messages" dialog gives no indication that it's ever possible to search based on Attachment Status. (I wasted some time due to this because I thought TB could do this, but couldn't figure out how and couldn't tell in the UI that that was in fact where you'd do it.)
3. You can search IMAP folders based on Attachment Status in a Saved Search. This inconsistency seems really, really weird to me.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Select an IMAP folder.
2. Press Shift-F to bring up the Search Messages dialog.
3. Click on the drop-down menu that says "Subject", to see properties to search on.
Actual Results:
Attachment Status is not on the menu, and it is not even shown disabled (which would indicate to the user that it's sometimes possible).
Expected Results:
My preferences, in descending order, are:
1. Attachment Status is on the menu, enabled, and can be used for searching.
2. Attachment Status is on the menu, disabled, and there is a tooltip or some other indication of why it's disabled (i.e., unavailable for IMAP).
3. Attachment Status is on the menu, disabled.

Magnus, could you explain a bit about the technical background of this?
We have search for attachment status ("Has Attachments") on IMAP, but not when running the search on the server.
STR
- Select an IMAP account
- Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+F for Advanced
Search Messages - Check criteria list for
Attachment Status--> available and working - Check [x] Run search on server
- Re-check criteria list for
Attachment Status--> not available

Summary: Search by Attachment Status unavailable for IMAP → Advanced search by Attachment Status unavailable for IMAP if `Run search on server` is enabled

There is no IMAP way to search for attachments, at least that I know of. Not much we can do about that, except correctly hiding it.
