We would like to set-up a mailing list for party planners to talk about throwing parties. It should be open to the public.
mail.mozilla.org, not lists.mozilla.org, right? or do you want a newsgroup, too?
is that much harder? Would like this to be setup like any other public discussion list.

Newsgroups have to be approved by gerv first. Normal mailing lists don't have to be approved first.
is it easier if I just great a regular ole google group? All I need is a mailing list -- ideally with mozilla's name attached.
No, mailing lists are easy. Newsgroups are harder.
