Description

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008051206 Firefox/3.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008051206 Firefox/3.0

When using Gmail's [Google Mail] chat feature on Windows, center clicking in the chat window to scroll up and down caused the entire page, including the scroll bar, to shift up and down, with white spaces appearing at the top and bottom.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a Gmail Account, sign into Gmail.
2. Open a Chat window by clicking on an online contact.
3. Center-click briefly in the chat window that appears.
4. Move the mouse up and down.
Actual Results:
The entire screen, including the chat window, the inbox, and even the main scroll bar moved up and down. White space appeared where the page had moved from.

Expected Results:
The chat window scrolls up and down normally.

I have been able to replicate on the both 3.0.11 and the 3.5 release candidate:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.11) Gecko/2009060215 Firefox/3.0.11

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1) Gecko/20090615 Firefox/3.5

I don't know whether this is a Gmail problem or a Firefox problem, though.
This is a mass search for Firefox General bugs filed against version 3.0 that are UNCO and have not been changed for 200 days.

Reporter, please update to Firefox 3.6.10 or alter. Firefox 3.0 is no longer supported and is no longer receiving updates. After you update, please create a fresh profile, http://support.mozilla.com/kb/managing+profiles, and test to see if your bug still exists. If you still the bug, then please post a comment with the version you tested against, and the problem. If the issue is no longer there, please set the RESOLUTION to RESOLVED, WORKSFORME.

I have been running Firefox 3.6 for many months now. Having updated to Firefox 3.6.10 and started a clean profile, the problem still persists.

google chat UI has change considerably. I don't know the UI as far back as 2008 so I can't compare to back then, but the current UI doesn't lend itself to middle click.

Please reopen if you disagree
