Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0
In Firefox 3 RC2, at a non-default zoom level (text-only or not) I open a link in a new tab, and it loads the page in the background (i.e. the new tab is not immediately selected). When I then select the new tab to view its contents, the page is briefly rendered at the default zoom level, and then "jumps" to the selected zoom level. This is quite distracting, and does not occur in Firefox 2.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Load http://www.mozilla.org/ .
2. Set the zoom away from the default. I suggest a few zooms in, making everything large. It doesn't matter if you have text-only zoom or not; but both ways should work "correctly," but currently exhibit this bug.
3. Choose one of the links (I suggest one of the Announcements), and open it in a new tab (e.g. middle-click it).
4. Wait for the new tab to load in the background--until its spinning "loading" icon has stopped.
5. Select the new tab, watching carefully the page area.
Actual Results:
The page first appears at default zoom, and then quickly reappears
with the correct zoom level (i.e. the same as the page it was launched from).
Expected Results:
The page should not "jump" sizes, but should just appear immediately with the correct zoom applied. This desired behavior is what exists in Firefox 2.
I'm using Firefox 3 size-by-size with 2, using a second profile loaded with -P on startup. I'm new to FF3, so my second profile is pretty much the default--no seemingly relevant options are set--and I have no extensions.

Well, at the end of my report, I meant that I'm using Firefox 3 "side by side" with 2, not "size-by-size".
