(Keywords: hang)
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0 Firefox V3 hangs indefinitely when a tab is being moved when a "cookie request" dialog box pops up. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Turn on "ask me every time" for cookies. 1.1. Tools/Options/{Privacy} 1.2. Set "Accept Cookies from Sites" 1.3. Keep until "Ask me every time" 2. Open up multiple tabs 3. Open up a new to a site where you have not visited that will try and set a cookie. 4. BEFORE the pop-up comes up asking to set the cookie, start to move one of the open tabs (don't "drop the tab") until the new cookie dialog opens. Actual Results: Firefox will hang (race condition within the UI?) Expected Results: That the "new cookie dialog" would not open until AFTER the tab has been "dropped". Note: that this is not as rare of a bug as you might think. I've been moving around tabs when a site I've had opened for over a minute suddenly decides that it wants to set a cookie (the Microsoft dynamic sites are especially prone to this behavior). It's the random nature of this bug that makes it so insidious to a user who is prone to lose some work in progress.
so turn off cookie requesting. it's a terrible idea :)
