User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0 I am opening my first bug here, so if its an invalid or dup, please do not flame. I checked above list but some of them above are too technical to be understood by firefox illiterate people(like me). The problem I am facing is : whenever I open the addons window and click on any of the three available buttons, the window hangs. I can still work on the other firefox windows but this one freezes permanently until i go to task manager and abend firefox. I am using following version of firefox: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0 And the add-ons I am using are: 1. Adblock Plus 0.7.5.4 2. Down Them All 1.0.3 3. Key Scrambler 2.1.0.1 I installed the later 2 yesterday only, so can remove them if they are causing problems. But I need adblock plus. The installation of adblock plus on this firefox version was somewhat problematic. It did not show up after the firefox restarted but when I started firefox next time, it somehow showed up. After it is working smoothly. But the window freeze is big issue. Please help! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to tools -> addons 2. Click any of the buttins : disable/options/uninstall 3. this window will hang Actual Results: addons window freezes Expected Results: all three button's work should be done. Either the add-on should be disabled/uninstalled/ its options dialogue box should be opened.
Please attach copies of extensions.ini, extensions.cache, extensions.rdf and extensions.log from your profile folder. http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Profiles

Have you copied your profile from an Ubuntu machine at all or something like that?
I had tried to use same profile from firefox installed on Ubuntu on my second partition...but later dropped the plan. Did that try messed it up?
Product: Firefox → Toolkit

Yes unfortunately. Most of the issues were meant to have been resolved with this case but it looks like some still remain. You can get back to a working setup by deleting extensions.cache and extensions.rdf from your profile and then starting Firefox.

Ever confirmed: true
Summary: Addon window freezes → Using same profile on ubuntu and official builds makes add-ons fail
How should we handle this bug? Is the underlying issue still present?
Version: unspecified → 1.9.0 Branch
I never managed to reproduce this issue for myself however I did work hard to make the new code deal properly with the changes that Ubuntu make when switching back and forth so my hope is that it is still fixed. Either way at this point it is probably better to close this as WFM and open a new bug if we see something with the new code
