User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.14) Gecko/20080404 Firefox/2.0.0.14 Build Identifier: 2.0.0.14 Helo There, Collaboration Data Objects provide all functionality like appointments, tasks, calendar control etc of MS Exchange via Windows COM interfaces (CDO.DLL). I have implemented an open source library http://sourceforge.net/projects/j-xchange, (still in Alpha stage , but working quite well) which implements CDO. This library will allow direct access to MS Exchange without IMAP (this is simply a wrapper over CDO). It can be used from a Non Windows environment also. I would like to propose an Extension to Thunderbird encapsulating this library, we would then be able to use Thunderbird with Exchange without resorting to IMAP and use all capabilities similar to MS Outlook as well. Thanks, best regards, Vikram Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: NA Actual Results: NA Expected Results: NA Feature Request.

Hi Biju, Yes certainly, I will try. I need to partner with someone, I have no experience in extension development in Thunderbird. Thanks for your help, best regards, Vikram

Wayne just cc'd me on this, so maybe I'll comment. CDO is no longer supported in Exchange 2010 (See http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998911.aspx) with Web Services the replacement technology. Given this, nobody today is going to start a new project today to implement CDO in mailnews. I'm using Exchange Web Services in my project (see http://mesquilla.com/category/exchange-web-services-ews/) In the interest of attempting to resolve bugs, I would mark this bug as WONTFIX. (It's also INVALID since Mozilla bugzilla is not really a place for extension requests as I understand it.)
Thanks James !
