User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0

I restarted my Vista machine because of an update, and Adobe Acrobat got hung up trying to close on a dialog, so Vista provided the "do you want to restart right now or wait?" message.

I had already clicked the dialog so Vista got the idea and finally restarted.

After booting up I fired up firefox, it said that there was an update to NoScript, installed perfectly fine, done.

However, it appears that the session info for the last time I was running has been lost (apart from what I have in my history).

Sorry for not being able to help with more information but I wouldn't know where in the sourcebase to start...

Reproducible: Didn't try
Version of Vista is Business x64 SP1, by the way (I saw that that info wasn't provided above).
Do you have session restore enabled for Firefox startup? Are you able to reproduce the session restore failure when you close Firefox normally, or when you restart Windows?
Session restore's enabled, yes.

I'll try to see if I can reproduce this issue (will attempt in ~2 hours after I finish up some stuff).
Same thing occurs. Rebooted the machine pending a reinstalled set of updates.

NoScript needed to be updated, yet once again when I opened up FF 3.0 RC2, which may tie into the whole non-session restoring functionality.

Is this an intended feature change from 2.x (shouldn't be IMHO :(...)?
Just as 2 extra trials...
- I tried FF with safe mode and restarted.
- I unchecked "clear saved sessions" under the privacy options and restarted.

Both yielded the same result -- a blank single tab google search page (my default homepage) without a dialog to "restore previous session" preceding it.
Garrett: In order to help me debugging your problem, could you please create copies of sessionstore.js (inside Firefox' profile folder) at all of the following moments:

* Before you start Firefox after the restart
* While the Update Add-ons screen is shown (please leave that window open for around 10 seconds before copying the file)
* Right after the main browser window's been opened

and then open those three files in a text editor (such as Notepad), copy their contents into one, make sure there aren't any privacy sensitive URLs in there and attach that one file to this bug?
I thought about this at length, and now I know why it's occurring:

1. Adobe Acrobat asks whether or not I want to close Firefox because there are PDF's open in the browser.
2. I click yes.
3. This gets registered as a "Yes the user wants to quit", so Firefox terminates normally, so session data is lost.
4. Windows reboots...

Sorry for the noise Simon. Error on my part, just because in the past Windows (<Vista) didn't used to wait for apps to close [in certain cases, like updates] before rebooting :).
