Message received for ONE of my THREE mailboxes: Unable to write to the mailbox. Make sure the file system allows you write privileges, and you have enough disk space to copy to the mailbox." I can send mail from this mailbox but can't receive or save drafts. The other 2 mailboxes are fine and have received mail from the affected box. Temporarily using Apple mail to receive mail for this particular address (from a Comcast address). So it's not a problem with my Comcast account. The other 2 mailboxes not affected are another Comcast address and a lerroproductions.com address.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Checked and tested the 2 other mailboxes
Actual Results:
They work with no problems. I can send mail from this mailbox but can't receive or save drafts. The other 2 mailboxes are fine and have received mail from the affected box.
Expected Results:
Send and save the mail
I checked for locked files in the profile and there is more than 6 gigs of disk space.
Problem started all of a sudden.
Temporarily using Apple mail to receive mail for this particular address (from a Comcast address). So it's not a problem with my Comcast account. The other 2 mailboxes not affected are another Comcast address and a lerroproductions.com address.
Using mac os 10.3.9

inbox ...................... 2 GB
It could be that you are hitting a 2gb limit, some comments in bug 207400 could mean that this bug is still there.
Why emails are not deleted in the mailfile if you delete them in Thunderbird and why they are only deleted in the file if you use compact folder read https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=183837#c11
Please do this:
If you have enough place on your hdd, create a copy of your mailbox files after that do a compact folder on each folder.

Reporter:
What is the filesize of the 2gb file now ?
Did you read my comment in the other bug and know why you need to do a compact folders from time to time ?
We will improve the automatic compact mode in the future and enable it by default in the future. You have to enable it currently in the preferences or do it manually with the menu (as you did now).
David:
Is it possible that bug 207400 regressed ?
The os can handle this filesize :
Maximum volume size and file size (Mac OS X 10.3 - 10.3.9):16 TB (1)
only Mac OS X 10.0 - 10.1.5) had a 2GB limit.

Inbox now shows a reduced size of 1GB and the aplication is working normally.
After following your suggestion and reading through comments of the other bug, I now understand why, prior to compact, my profile size did not reduce after deleted half of my received mail. The compacting did take a couple minutes.
Awsome job guys! Thank you.
This problem really interupted my business and is a relief not to have to worry about missed emails.
Pete

It's possible that this has regressed on the Mac (or just the ppc Mac) - different compilers are sensitive to signed/unsigned in different ways.

I don't think there's anything left here that's actionable.

i have gone through most of the above comments and tried.
I have even deleted all mails, compacted and now inbox is zero size ,
deleted the folder and recreated
deleted the account - and tries to set up again -- this gived another problem, it says either the account is already existing or says the inward server existing and not allowing to recreate the account.
if i try to change parameters of another existing mail account, it again gives same error - account existing!
