This apparently only happens on mac, and it happens to a friend using 2.0.0.14 on his mac, and to me using 3.0 (and it happened in trunk too, so marking trunk since it's obviously still there) on my mac.
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008061004 Firefox/3.0
The reason I say this is a bug is safari actually picks dropdown lists (but not checkboxes or buttons, at least in my testcase) using tab navigation, so that must not be an issue.
