439988 - "Open With ..." downloads the file, but errors out in actually opening it

I receive an "Unknown Error" every time I download a file from the interwebs using the "Open With" checkbox to open it with the default application.

The file successfully downloads, but firefox is not able to tell the file to open in its default application, and it produces an "Unknown Error" dialog box.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to a page where you can right-click and "save image as" or go to a page where you can download a small piece of software, we're trying to bring up the "Open With... " dialog box.
2. Check the "Open With" option to tell firefox to open the file with the default app.
3. Notice the resulting error, that tells me to open it myself (How Rude!!)
Actual Results:  
Anger, Frustration

haahah, nah, it just doesn't do anything, I have to manually find the file and open it myself

Expected Results:  
Do it FOR me like you're supposed to Firefox!

Jamie: Can you state specifically which type of file you are trying to open? If I download a disk image and check the open with DiskImageMounter.app it works fine.

Yea I noticed that .dmg's work, everything else I've tried doesn't seem to,

so like, .pdf wont, .jpg, .xls not sure about .doc (i'm just finding them as I'm at work downloading work files)

I need to revise my original "steps to reproduce"

This is only happening for "click to download" type links, for example, we use a Trac system at work, and when I download any attachment, i get the error, however simply right-clicking a jpg within a page and "Save Image As" doesn't call up the "open with" dialog, which bypasses the error.

I reproduced it on firefox on imac >> pdf file keeps opening in new window of firefox every second so u have to STOP the browser exit it completely, this bug should get priority, it seems the browser does not connect with the online pdf handler

Since this is a very old issue and I haven't been able to reproduce it on my end I'm going to close this issue for now.

If the someone is able to still reproduce this, please feel free to re-open the report.
