User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.1.14) Gecko/20080404 Firefox/2.0.0.14 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.1.14) Gecko/20080404 Firefox/2.0.0.14 I downloaded the updated version twice for my Mac I have version: OSX 10.4.11. I did the following: 1. clicked on the download-update version for mac, it downloaded perfectly 2. took the firefox icon to the applications folder 3. the notice came to replace the older version , which I said yes to. 4. then the note from "Copy" came: "The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items." No mention on which items they were. However I have this comment twice after each time I tried to update: "The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items." I have a password for any changes I make, this was not generated. I own this Mac, I am the administrator for this stand alone system. It is my personal and professional base for all things computing, including the Internet. I do have friends who use this computer on occasion, and have a separate branch for them; hence the password for all changes. I will be completing a "detailed bug report" Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.update for FireFox completed 2.replaced older version into the applications folder, an issue 3.get a copy message " the operation cannot be completed because you do not have privileges for some of the items." I own this mac OSX10.4.11 I do have the password enacted for all changes, which was not generated. Actual Results: 1. update from Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.1.14) Gecko/20080404 FireFox/2.0.0.14 2. downloading went fine 3. placing the FireFox icon to the applications folder generates the following message from copy: "The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items." I do have password activated for all changes on my Mac. This was not generated. Expected Results: I expected to update the new version of FireFox 3.0. I expected to update, download the update, place the icon in the applications folder, that be generated, then collapse all the programs to restart the Mac for continued operations as per usual. my expectations for updating FireFox 3.0 was not completed. I do own this Mac, it is my professional and personal for all things computing including the Internet. I do have friends who use this unit. I am the administrator.
Thank you for allowing me to be able to tell you of this bug. Usually I have not issues with Firefox and I know this to be the best of operations. My expectations of your product were severely curtailed and quite disappointing. Hopefully this can be resolved in a timely manner. Good luck.

Do you still have the same issue ? What version exactly are you trying to install ? Have you tried installing it from a new admin user to verify if it's a system wide issue ? This sounds like a system permission issue (no known bug) so I would really advise to verify/repair permissions with Disk Utility, again try on another user and if it still occurs, copy the last lines of the system.log log just after failing to upgrade FF.
does this happen with newer 3.6 started in safe mode - http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode ?
