I clicked on the x in the upper right hand corner to quit Firefox 3 and I got the Save & Quit / Quit / Cancel dialog, and I selected quit. A few minutes later, I opened Firefox 3 and all of my bookmarks were gone.  I checked in my profile folder, and the bookmarks.json was only 7KB or 8KB in size.  I restored my bookmarks from the bookmarkbackups folder.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Quit Firefox
2. Restart Firefox

Expected Results:  
Bookmarks should not be lost when quitting Firefox 3.

- is there still a places.sqlite file in your profile? what is its last access date in comparison to the last usage of Fx3?
- are you using any on-access malware scanning applications (name/version)?

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".

In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body   contains   places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.

Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
