441551 - 'x' missing to close tab, and password manager not working when many tabs open

When I have many tabs open, the ones on the right hand side of the screen stop displaying the 'x' to close them. You can still right click on them and choose 'close tab', but there is no 'x' to click to close them quickly. I have also noticed that at the same time in these tabs, password manager opens and asks if you wish to save the password for the site, but there is nowhere to put the password in, and no 'yes' or 'no' buttons to click on as is usually there.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open many tabs until you have to use left and right arrows at the top edge of the browser.
2.Click to move tabs so you are viewing the ones to the left of the screen - the 'x' to close them is visible. 
3.Now scroll across to thr centre/right of the browser and try again - no 'x' to close appears.

This bug was reported using Firefox 3.0 or older, which is no longer supported. The bug has also not been changed in over 500 days and is still in UNCO.
Reporter, please retest this bug in Firefox 3.6.10 or later using a fresh profile, http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/managing+profiles. If you still see this problem, please update the bug. If you no longer see the bug, please set the resolution to RESOLVED, WORKSFORME.

No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.12 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
