Works for me, using a Microsoft mouse and the v6 Intellipont drivers. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0

OK - Apologies I have tested on a few computers, I will try on my other home machines later and see if I can spot a pattern.

I have the same problem, using Logitech MX Revolution mouse with SetPoint 4.7. Does not occur in other browsers.
duplicate of Bug 259450 (see Workaround there)

I don't see any of comments mentioning the characters ♦ or ♠ in 259450 or any of the dupes. Reporter in comment 0 does not say he is using a Logitech mouse.

I am using a Logitech mouse so I do think these could be linked. In fact I have had this issue only on the two machines that I am running the Logitech software on. It does only happen in firefox, it could be that Logitech are to blame; but if we can solve it in ff it will still help improve the end user experience. I am not on the same machine as when I discovered this, I will test the workaround and confirm if it resolves this issue.
(In reply to comment #5) > I don't see any of comments mentioning the characters ♦ or ♠ in 259450 or any > of the dupes. It's true that it's not mentioned in 259450, perhaps Bug manifestation changed a bit with Setpoint and/or Fx Versions, or original Bug description was simply not as accurate as this one. There are other Bugs mentioning these characters: Bug 380252, Bug 411469 etc. Some have better descriptions than 259450, but that one was first (and has "resolution") ALL have Setpoint Driver in common > Reporter in comment 0 does not say he is using a Logitech mouse. Sorry, didn't even notice that because his symptoms were so well known to me (have exactly same problem btw) ;) As it appears, he DOES have Setpoint installed though...

I think we should mark this as NEW (see the attached Firefox 3.6 beta 5 screen shot). Following the directions at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=259450#c10 does fix the problem. However, the fact that this is not an issue in other applications (including browsers) seems to suggest that Firefox needs to handle this scenario somehow (process additional window messages? I'm not sure exactly how).
I can confirm this issue with Firefox 3.6.x and Firefox 4.0 beta too. Bug #538773 is a duplicate of this bug.

This bug was originally reported on Firefox 3.0, which is no longer supported and will not be receiving any more updates. I strongly suggest that you update to Firefox 4.0.1 or later, update your plugins (flash, adobe, etc.), and retest in a new profile. If you still see the issue with the updated Firefox, please post here. Otherwise, please close as RESOLVED > WORKSFORME http://www.mozilla.com http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+mode

No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 4 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). Also, ensure you have the most up to date graphics drivers, operating system updates, and plugin versions (flash, java, etc). If you continue to see this issue with the newest Firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
