Saving web pages to usb pen drives makes firefox 3 extremely slow. Is unusable.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Web page.
2. Click save page as...
3. Save to USB pen drive
Actual Results:
Firefox almost hangs. It take many minutes to save pages.

Expected Results:
I expect to continue utilising Firefox 3 meanwhile saving pages.
I cannot change tabs, or save more pages.

It does not occur under Linux, only in Windows XP (and maybe Vista).

Is important to save many pages, to read offline (and save conection costs). But being so slow, is impossible to use firefox, because is much more faster to save from other web browser.

Saving to hard disk is much more fast.

Are you sure this isn't a Windows driver issue?

Don't know, but other web browsers work fine.

I had find this bug in more than 100 computers running Windows 9x, XP or Vista, with 5 pen drive models (any tested), and Firefox 1, 2, and 3. I never found an exception.

A simple workaround is save to hard disk, and then copy to pen drive (in an independent thread).

Anyway, There is no reason to have Firefox unusable meanwhile saving to USB pen drive. If it is a windows driver issue, then starting the save in a new thread will allow the user to continue utilizing Firefox, even if the pen drive writing takes years.
Probably, is also necessary to check if the thread is finished, before closing the tab containing the saved page. Otherwise, if the user try to close the tab after saving, the tab can be hidden until saving thread ends, then the the tab is allowed to really close.

I need to go to public computers with Internet access, and save lots of pages on pen drive, to be read offline, and save costs. So, I cannot use Firefox, because I cannot browse other pages meanwhile saving, and I need to pay much more for the time Firefox takes to save (can be many minutes on some pages that Internet Explorer saves almost instantaneously).
